A Life of Blue for the People: A Manifesto

Written by Conni Biesalski. Follow me on Twitter.

Why live unconventionally? Why not conform to social rules and expectations?

Because conventions and social norms are limitations. They limit you and me and all of us from being who we were born to be.

Non-conformity does not mean being something you are not. Being unconventional should not be the goal if it is just for the sake of being unconventional (it would only satisfy your ego.)

A rebel will never achieve his cause if he only rebels for the sake of rebellion.

Non-conformity = Your own truth and reality, you true self, your fulfilled passions and dreams, your individuality, your inner potential.

If you try to be something you are not, you are conforming to pressures from outside. (The pressures to compete. The pressures that society and the media have laid upon all of us.)

The goal should not be to create an imagine of yourself and try to morph into it by changing who you are.

One day, I set out to find out who I already am. Once I did, I decided to become what I found: The person that has been living inside of me in silence.

Living life unconventionally is not about the ego. It’s about the self. It’s about climbing down the deep well and digging up what’s there. And then showing it to the world, no matter who beats you up for it. No matter what.

This is the A Life of Blue Manifesto.

That’s it, that’s all. This is A Life of Blue. Come and join!

Mine is pretty simple. It’s ‘THINK’.

    Be Truthful, and Thoughtful
    Be Helpful
Be Inspiring. Propogate new, interesting, fun things.
Be Necessary – matter to people. Be dependable.
    And be Kind.

    I like yours too. It’s inspiring. :)

    • Conni says:

Cheers, Wes! I think ‘be necessary’ is a big one, thanks for bringing it up. I hope you’re wel! Thanks for stopping by, have a fab day!

    Stupid question, but why blue?

    • Conni says:

Not a stupid question at all. I will answer it in more detail in a forthcoming post soon (sign up to the newsletter so you don’t miss it) .

In short: The color blue for me resembles freedom. I’m also a scuba dive instructor and love the blue of the ocean. Again, it gives me freedom. Blue also has a lot more amazing (social and cultural) meanings, which I will elaborate on soon.

      Thanks for asking!
